It is Saturday morning. No school tomorrow. You wake up while the rest of the house is still asleep. You grab your favourite cereal and hurry to claim the best seat on the couch, trying not to spill milk on the floor. You turn on the TV just in time to hear your favourite cartoon’s jingle fill the room.
Life is good.
An ode to simple stories
This game is a love letter to our beloved childhood cartoons. Knot Knot is fresh out of the oven, and we couldn’t think of a better adventure to kick things off!
There is something special about those memories: superheroes, investigators, or unlicensed cat and mouse. Cartoon stories made us laugh, kept us at the edge of our seats, but most importantly fuelled our imagination.
They are often simple in nature and easily understandable by everyone. That is, in our opinion, a perfect playground to create amazing stories with friends and strangers alike. We love open playgrounds, because they leave you the space to create adventure that is unique, one that could not exist without you.
So what is this game we are rambling about? This starts to sound like one of those cooking recipe…Yes sorry.
Here is our pitch.
Into the Pocketverse
Imagine you’re a kid with a wild imagination. You mash together everything you love: monsters, gadgets, mysteries, superpowers.
Now imagine that world becomes real.
I dreamt about it and, let’s be honest, so did you. Well, in this case, you get to make that dream a reality.
In Pocket Party, you and your friends travel into your very own pocket worlds and live out incredible adventures. You play as kids who take the form of fantastic avatars, diving headfirst into danger to protect these fragile universes from a looming Big Bad Evil. You know the type…the bitter one with no friends.
It’s a roleplaying game for 3 to 5 players, built for infinite adventures in infinite worlds, created together at the table.
It’s your Saturday morning cartoon.
Except you get to write the episode.
You activated my trap card!
Our unique system is crafted as a story-first engine. It is light, detailed, and punchy.
We don’t want to spoil too much, but if you can keep a secret: it uses cards. Not standard cards, not cards that you have to buy, but rather cards you can create using any improvised support you can find (we playtested using post-its at some point!).
These cards are used throughout your awesome adventures to resolve tension by acting as storytelling prompts. They will tell you if good or evil triumphs and, more importantly, how so.
Essentially, creating a character means creating your own card collection. Some talk about your kid, some about the weird stuff you can find while adventuring into a pocket world.
There is a card about the power of friendship. Of course.
You son of a *****, I’m in
You can play Pocket Party, like, right now. Go on and read our ruleset online, for free. You’re welcome. Gather your friends, creating weird pocket worlds, and kick some villains’ butts. If you enjoy the ride, we would also recommend checking out two things:
Join our community
We are not stopping there, of course. You can join Knot knot in our quest to create games that empower other people to create cool stuff. We develop with the community, test together and throw random, wild ideas. Come hang out.
A devlog is coming
We don’t know yet how, but we are making a devlog. Probably videos, because you know, gen-z. Maybe articles. But we will talk about the making off of pocket party, from our first steps in Montreal to the release of the game in Edinburgh. The whole world tour.
See you on the other side!
The Knot Knot team <3
