There is a strange moment where things have to get out. We’ve been working on creating this space for our community for so long that it feels weird to finally see it take flight!
After moments of doubt, unmeasured hype, and a lot of back and forth, here we are.
Who are you tho?
Hi, yes.
We are Knot Knot Games, a small indie game studio founded in 2025 in Edinburgh, Scotland. For a solid 6 month, we’ve been hiding in the shadows, cooking our grand entrance!
We strive to create games that focus on collaboration and storytelling as the core of the experience. We come from a time where games meant playing with your friends, either around a table or in front of the same screen. I guess we never quite gave up on that experience, and we hope that our creations will be an excuse for people to rekindle that flame!
We also believe that every gamer is a creator at heart, and we aim to deliver experiences that empower you to do just that: create!
Our games are frames. Blank canvases where details are left out intentionally.
Now each player has a space to build their own journey. One that could not possibly exist without them. For this reason, we do not give our players pre-made stories or fully fledged worlds. We craft systems with a love for the unexpected.
Our gameplay always empower the story but never dictates how it plays out. So yeah, gather your friends, grab a pen, bounce ideas and discover your own story!

Knot knot games was founded and anchored into local communities. For a long time, we were fine existing in this space, and it allowed us to create and test plenty, mostly thanks to the incredible tabletop scene in Edinburgh.
For this reason, it felt important to thank the following clubs and organisations without whom Knot Knot would not exist:
Edinburgh Indie Gamers
For revealing an entirely different side of story games and for fostering conversations that challenged and inspired our design thinking. Here we discovered experimental games, creations that shifted our view of the medium. If you ever had a creative epiphany, then you know how rare and precious these moments are.
The Role Play Haven
For giving us a space to run and test our systems, all that for charity! Here we met tons of awesome people that helped us in our journey. As our readers might know, being able to find reliable groups of play is somewhat of a challenge, and RP Haven gave us a solid , reliable way of doing just that. No small feat!

Ancient Robot Games
For building a supportive local network of game makers and providing an amazing environment for workshops and playtests. Not a lot of game shops invest that much into the local creator community and they deserve all the praise for doing so.

What about the website then?
This website is meant to complement our local presence, not replace it.
It a hub for Knot Knot’s creations and our awesome community. It will allow players to finally pick up and play our games, wherever they are. Exciting times!
Now there is a place on the internet for us, a little corner that we hope to grow over time.
It felt like the right time, because we are also celebrating the release of our very first title: Pocket Party! If you don’t know anything about it, check out the SRD on this website.
In the near future, we will also release a small dev blog around the creation of Pocket Party, as we believe that sharing our design journey will interest players and fellow game makers.
